About Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis

Eagle Creek Park is home to 3,900 acres of forest and 1,400 acres of water. Among the nation’s biggest city parks, it boasts an extensive array of activities and attractions and is only a short drive from downtown. Visitors to the park enjoy hiking, boating, fishing, and more. This is also the park to visit for rare sightings of bald eagles.

Supported by the Eagle Creek Park Foundation, the website offers information on their efforts to improve and protect this park for both current visitors and future generations.

In general, Eagle Creek Park opens at dawn and closes at dusk. However, these hours do vary according to different months of the year.

  • June, July, and August: Opening time 7 am, closing time 9.30 pm
  • May: 7 am to 9 pm
  • September to April: 7 am to 7.30 pm
  • October and March: 7 am to 7.30 pm
  • November and February: 7 am to 6.30 pm
  • December and January: 7 am to 6 pm

There are entrance fees involved to use this park. Here is a list of the fees below. It is also possible to purchase an annual pass online:

  • Hikers or bikers: $1.50
  • Resident vehicles: $5
  • Non-resident vehicles: $6
  • Bus entry: $15
  • Car-top boat launch: $3 per vessel (over and above the vehicle admission)

Annual passes are valid from January to December:

  • Resident vehicles: $50
  • Non-resident vehicles: $60
  • Hiker or biker: $35
  • Seniors (62 or older): $40
  • Car-top boat launcher stickers: $20 per vessel
