A little over a century ago the Indianapolis International Airport was created as a place where people could fly in and out of Indiana without going to Chicago or Cincinnati. It is located 7 miles northwest of downtown Indy. The airport has been expanded multiple times since its opening for both passenger comfort and safety. The airport has enjoyed steady growth over the years and continues to serve as a major port for travel not only in Indiana but throughout North America.
The main terminal is divided into three concourses; A, B, and three levels. The A Concourse serves as the primary terminal building where all of the major carriers are housed. It has an international gate for direct flights outside of North America and a nearby hotel at which people can stay before or after their flight. The B-Concourse is home to Southwest Airlines, Allegiant Air, and Frontier Airlines.
The airport offers free wi-fi throughout the entire facility as well as charging stations at every gate area to ensure that people can stay connected while waiting to board their flight. There are also great services available such as cafes, restaurants, and shopping options along with an exercise facility for those who want to stay active while in the airport. It houses some check-in kiosks as well as a food court with multiple dining options along with a large number of retail stores to accommodate every traveler’s needs.
The airport is a great example of the growth and development in Indianapolis. It continues to be one of the biggest travel hubs not only for Indiana but also throughout North America.
The Indianapolis International Airport is accessible by both public transportation and personal vehicles. There are many parking options available at different rates depending on how long someone plans to park their car or whether they would like covered or outdoor spaces. There are also several companies that offer shuttles to and from the airport.
There are currently three parking options at the Indianapolis International Airport: economy, daily, and valet. The economy lot is located just north of the main terminal building across from the baggage claim while the two other lots offer closer proximity to security checkpoints. There are also shuttles that run continuously between these lots for easy access to the terminal building. Valet parking is located on the ground level of the main parking deck close to baggage claim while daily lots are not far from there either.
